GST Calculator
How it is calculated
Adding GST: GST = amount × rate ÷ 100; total = amount + GST.
Removing GST from an inclusive amount: value before GST = amount ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100); GST = amount − value before GST.
For supplies within a state, GST splits equally into CGST and SGST (or UTGST). For supplies between states, the whole amount is IGST. Since 22 September 2025 the main rates are 5% and 18%, with 40% on specified goods and 0% or special rates for some items. Always confirm the rate for your product or service.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate GST on a price?
Multiply the price by the GST rate and divide by 100 to get the GST, then add it to the price. For a GST-inclusive price, divide by 1 plus the rate as a decimal to get the value before GST.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
CGST and SGST are the central and state shares of GST on supplies within one state, each half of the rate. IGST is charged on supplies between states and on imports, and it equals the full rate.
What are the GST rates in India now?
